SOCHI 2014: “Bolshoy” Ice Dome

Bolshoy Ice Dome is a multifunctional complex, located in the Sochi Olympic Park (coastal cluster of Sochi 2014). The building was the main area for the hockey matches during the Sochi Olympic Games 2014. Today Bolshoy is the home arena of the hockey club Sochi. The facility is a roofed arena designed as a frozen ice drop, with a capacity of 12,000 spectators.

There were a number of tasks for SODIS Lab. First, to install the facility with the monitoring systems both for structural health and the building equipment. Furthermore, the monitoring systems were supposed to be used during the construction as well as while in operation.

BIM model of Bolshoy Ice Dome

To complete the task SODIS Lab used SODIS Building M software complex, where all the monitoring processes (data collection, data analysis, transferring of the data) are based on a BIM model of the structures that are under monitoring.
